General Notes:
|
A highly visible established stand of trees in the landscape. The group consists of spruce, fir, mountain ash trees and are all original plantings associated with five different families - the Duries, Nelsons, Hones, Stedmans and Jennings - who settled and farmed the surrounding ranch lands from 1885 until 1962
As the earliest residence in the neighbourhood, the ca1910 Hone Ranch House, three early 20th century farm outbuildings, and their expansive grounds with mature trees, serve as a community landmark that recalls the early pioneers who settled and worked the land. (Tetrault, D. R., 2022). References Hone Ranch House, Inventory of Evaluated Historic Resources. City of Calgary (accessed 24 Sept. 2022). |
